Shake up for school dinners
Pabulum is generating excellent
awareness as the catering company
responsible for the catering
service to 66 schools on the Island.
Schools dinners are in line for a
shake up with the introduction of
new government guidelines and
Pabulum are well up for the task.
Interestingly they have other areas
of responsibility which include
operating as the catering partners
to the Isle of Wight College, Trucast
and Polyflex. The business is one of
the largest employers on the island
with over 250 employees, playing
a key role in employment and
development of the Island.
As the majority of their clients
are in the education sector, they are
taking a responsible view on the
provision of fresh, healthy food to
our young customers. It has been a
topical debate of late regarding the
impact on the lack of nutritional
foods for school children ultimately
78
leading to the government’s new
nutritional standards which come
into effect from September 2006.
Pabulum is well placed to action
the new legislation and is already
meeting most of the standards and
even exceeding those in the primary
schools. Pabulum’s view is that only
throughamulti-agencyapproachcan
we tackle childhood obesity. This
means working with the Island’s
“Turning the Tables” catering group
which includes representatives from
schools, parents, governors, the
council and the NHS.
Pabulum is proud to be working
to improve the eating habits of
the children on the Isle of Wight,
tackling obesity whilst offering
fresh, nutritious lunches. Contact
