Artist in residence at Busy Bee

Some artists , like fine wine , improve with age and often achieve some of their best work later in life . This is certainly the case with Alex Williams . During June , Alex will be the ‘ artist in residence ’ at Busy Bee in Ryde . Mary & Chris Leslie , owners of the garden centre , have commissioned Alex to transform their Olive Tree Restaurant with an Italian themed painting comprising nine canvases measuring 15 metres in total . Alex will be on site daily , the restaurant will be open as usual , and the public can follow the progress of the work as it evolves .

Inglefield Nursing & Residential Home are throwing a summer fete ! Isle of Wight Scouts are raising money to send nine of their number to the next World Scout meeting in the USA next year . The theme for the meeting will be “ Unlock a New World ”, promoting the sharing of cultures and giving back to their local communities . Mammoth sales for scouts

being sent from poorer countries . To this end Isle of Wight Scouts will be holding several Mammoth car boot sales on the County Showground in Northwood . Each held on a Sunday , the sales will be on the 15th July , 22nd July , 29th July , 5th August and the 19th August . They will be open to the public from 8.30am , donation for entries .

Charity dash & splash in July

Dash & Splash is now in its fourth year . It ’ s a unique 5km run / walk along Sandown Bay from Shanklin Rowing Club to Yaverland Seafront , when the tide is at its lowest starting at 1.15pm on Sunday 8th July . Running along the sand and over the groynes before the tide comes in , there will be some splashing , but all in great fun and raising money for the charity Challenge & Adventure . All entrants will be given a medal , entry is £ 10 per adult , and £ 5 per child . Entrants under 11 years old must be accompanied by a registered adult . Register at www . dashandsplash . org . uk .
