Local Scene Cream Tea fund-raiser for Admiral Nurses A fund-raising cream tea was held at Busy Bee Garden Centre in Ryde, in aid of the Isle of Wight Admiral Nurse Appeal for Dementia UK, and was hosted by Lady Grylls and Busy Bee owners Mary and Chris Leslie. Over £500 was raised at the event, and a grand raffle included a wrought iron table and chairs Bistro Set along with plants and gardening sundries from Busy Bee; an original painting by Tim Bristow; hampers from the Co Op and Tesco and a signed copy of Bear Grylls’ book Born Survivor. High Sheriff Gioia Minghella attended and won the canvas of tulips by Alex Williams in the raffle. “It was very encouraging for those working to raise funds for the salaries of the Admiral Nurses on the Isle of Wight that two families came to the Cream Tea at the Busy Bee, especially to tell us that their family’s care journey through dementia looking after their loved one at home has been transformed by the support of their personal Admiral Nurse,” said Lady Grylls.
