Honey , I shrunk the shop !
Godshill ’ s popular fair trade gift shop , Daisy Daisy , has been miniaturised , as a fun way of celebrating its 10th anniversary year .
The “ mini me ” version of the shop has been created at Godshill Model Village , and features the shop ’ s familiar livery and distinctive daisy logo . Co-owner of Daisy Daisy Annabel Robin says she was delighted when model village owner Stuart Dyer agreed to her quirky idea , which was put into action during the re-decoration of the popular attraction for the start of the new visitor season .
It will remain until the end of the season , and then revert back to its original historic form as the model village ’ s lace shop . Annabel , who launched the business 10 years ago with her mum Julia , now runs it in partnership with brother Nick , and the siblings remain as enthusiastic as ever about their ethically-driven family enterprise . Over the past decade they ’ ve built strong relationships with their suppliers , and have traded with many of them since day one . Members of BAFTS ( British Association of Fair Trade Shops ) since 2009 , they ’ re passionate about supporting fair trade and “ those amazing craftspeople around the world who create such beautiful things ”. Annabel and Nick say they especially love discovering new products to bring to their regular customers on the Island – and this year they ’ ve introduced a range of relaxed and brightlycoloured clothing that they
reckon will go down particularly well with festival-goers . There are also new variations on some of the shop ’ s familiar themes – such as different fragrances of incense , new jewellery , recycled homewares , pocket money toys and greeting cards . Annabel says one of the biggest changes to have happened during their decade of trading is public awareness of the need for re-cycling , ethical trading and caring for the planet – subjects that weren ’ t much talked about even 10 years ago . “ Issues like these have now started to hit the mainstream and we couldn ’ t be happier about that ” says Annabel .
