Inside Business
Here comes the bride
June has always been
the most popular month
for weddings, and that
old idea of being a
“June bride” appeals
to the romantic streak
in every little girl.
But in fact the whole of the
summer is peak wedding season,
as Shanklin florist Sherrie
Peach knows only too well.
Sherrie, who’s been a florist
for 40 years and the owner of
Mon Cherie since 2007, will be
kept busy decorating church and
reception venues, and creating
stylish bouquets, corsages,
buttonholes and headdresses
to help make every couple’s day
an occasion to remember.
“I’ve seen many trends come
and go over the years” she says,
“and the part of the job I enjoy
most is keeping up with all the
latest ideas and current looks and
then coming up with something
unique for every bride.”
Sherrie’s personal approach
also comes into its own on
less joyful occasions, when
she has consultations with
bereaved families about funeral
flowers for a loved one.
“We take pride in doing a lovely
job for those who have lost a
loved one” she explains. “Whether
it’s a small posy or something
bespoke and completely unique
to one person, like a Royal
Marine logo or something in
team colours – every customer
is important to me, no matter
what the size of their budget.”

Stairs no problem
If going up and down the stairs
becomes more of a challenge
as you age, it’s common to
think that the only solution is
to move to a bungalow or
ground floor apartment.
But in fact there is a simpler
option - and that’s a stairlift.
Installing one of these can
quickly and easily give back
the full use of your home.
As the only Island company
specialising solely in stairlifts,
Newport-based First Choice
Stairlifts is the go-to specialist
in this field, and offers a wide
range of indoor and outdoor
models to suit both curved
and straight staircases.
Proprietor Duncan Fidler says
his aim is to give customers
unbeatable value, with the best
possible prices, which is why he
also supplies reconditioned as
well as new lifts, as a money-
saving alternative. He also
offers a professional service
in repairing, maintaining
and conditioning stairlifts
anywhere on the Island.
Duncan says that being a
totally independent, Island-
based company means that
there are no commissions
to be added by agents or
salesmen. “We are local
authority approved, and
pride ourselves on our after-
sales care too.” he says.
