Seaview Gallery exhibitions Come on through the garden gate! Ventnor Botanic Garden is 45 years old and they’re celebrating from 19th - 23rd June! It’s 45 years since Lord Louis Mountbatten, then Governor of the Isle of Wight, officially opened the Garden to the public after the closure of the Royal National Hospital. Ventnor Botanic Garden Friend’s Society are planning to celebrate in style this summer with a number of free events over the week. Called ‘Through the Garden Gate’, they hope their festival will offer something for everyone - young and older, families or singles. The week of celebrations culminates in YogaVibe, the vibrant annual yoga festival for beginners and Yogi’s alike from 23rd - 25th June. The Depozitory opens The Depozitory, a group of artists studios run by Foal Arts, is opening it’s doors to the public as part of the Islandwide Open Studios event. Running from July 21st - 23rd, 10am - 5pm each day, it allows members of the public to talk directly with the artists and creatives about their work and buy or commission pieces. Thursday 20th July sees the launch event from 6 - 9pm, at 23 Nelson St, Ryde, PO33 1PZ. All are welcome. Suzanne Whitmarsh NAPA brings stunning simplicity and gorgeous colourways to the views you know and love around Seaview and the Island. Ann Hawksley is an avid people watcher and with her accomplished colour popping contemporary impressionist style she portrays magical scenes. Harriet Hue is a master of blissful scenes that make your shoulders relax and your bones warm from the sun. You can put yourself in each scene and connect with the simple feeling of summer. Lastly Gillian Connor brings humour and character with her Found Object creations - boats, seagulls, fish etc. all imaginatively recreated from flotsam and jetsam. 5th - 19th Aug - ‘Summer Celebration’ Exhibition - Seaview Regatta Week. At the height of summer & excitement with Regatta on 15th - 17th Aug. Shane Couch - with his bewitching Abstract Realism style capturing waves, ripples, sparkle and IOW Beachscapes with awe inspiring accuracy and beauty. Charlotte Hodge Thomas NAPA - Charlotte’s signature zingy colour palette and subtle attention to detail draws you in, connecting you emotionally to the scene. George Kan - George uses brushes and his fingers to create his colourful and realistic sealife and coastal inspired pieces. His connection with the sea and the creatures in and around it stems from his love of Seaview. Ray Burt - Super realist detail is Ray’s talent.
