SUMMER IS HERE!

With the longest day appearing in mid
June, it is a sure sign that the British
summer has arrived.
Light rain showers are welcomed to revitalise
growing plants while sunny spells and the heat
of the sun, warm all that are blessed with it. It is a
thriving time of year.
Moving on into the new season, we have been
tidying and pruning spring flowering shrubs in
the borders. Also, deadheading spent flowers can
promote new flowers and generally makes plants
look more presentable. This said, don’t forget to
leave some of the seed heads to mature if you are
hoping to collect and sow for next year.
Tall perennials are supported to reduce the chance
of wind damage and climbing plants, roses and
berry fruits are being tied up against walls and
trellis to encourage vigorous growth. Lawn edging
and mowing continues regularly along with t
