A great day
for rowing hosts
R
yde Rowing Club played host when the
second Hants & Dorset ARA Championship
Regatta of the season took place from Appley
Beach in May.
A total of 91 crews and scullers from 13 different
clubs took part - including all three Island clubs.
Sponsored by Carisbrooke Shipping, the event
provided a packed program of 20 races crammed
into the four and a half hours of available water, as
the crews and scullers raced over the 1900m course
in Coxed Fours, Coxless Pairs, Double Sculls and
Single Sculls for both men and women.
The home club, sponsored by Wightlink IW Ferries,
had the largest entry of the day and produced a
strong set of results that included two wins and gave
them second place for the aggregate shield.
