EDUCATION Ryde school pupils create ‘Island Life’ P upils in Years 7 and 8 submitted some interesting entries for the School’s Inter-House Art Competition entitled ‘Island Life’. The only criteria for entry was that the work was no bigger than A3 in size and it could be submitted in any medium. Poppy Methold, aged 13, won the competition with her clever cut-out book, ‘A library is an island in the middle of the sea…’ , Florence Tweddle, 12, created a sparkling sea scape from molten glass pieces and Harrison Lake, 12, created a very modern artwork ‘Pebbles’ with layers of paper. Other entries included photography montage, driftwood painting, oil on canvas and a clever 3D piece, showing a yacht working its way around the Island by Jacob Swann, also aged 12. www.visitilife.com June/July 2016_MASTER .indd 115 115 14/06/2016 01:52
