County Show
T
he annual show where cattle, sheep, pigs
and poultry come first. A fantastic day
out for all the family, this year taking place on
Sunday June 26, combining entertainment
and fun with the opportunity to enjoy many
aspects of Island country life and farming.
The main ring is where most of the action
takes place with a non-stop parade of
entertainment, competitions and activities to
get involved with. Visit the animals at Small
Animal Farm or find out more about the
journey of food from farm to plate from local
growers and producers.

Sandown Carnival
O
nce again Sandown Carnival takes to the
streets! With a childrens day event on July
29, from 3pm and the main carnival taking
place the day after on Saturday July 30, there
will be something for all ages.
The main carnival isn’t only a parade, it’s a
full day of activities, culminating in the float
and costume parade around the town.
All the events are free to attend, so visit
Sandown for some friendly, family fun.
Summer Barbecue
E
njoy a barbecue at the Isle of Wight Donkey
Sanctuary, at Wroxall, this summer. Visit
the sanctuary on Wednesday June 22 for the
evening event, with good music and good
food! Admission is free as is the parking. See

Round the Island Race
T
he annual J.P. Morgan Asset
Management Round the Island Race,
organised by the Island Sailing Club, is a
one-day yacht race around the Island.
The race regularly attracts over 1,700 boats
and around 16,000 sailors, making it one of
the largest yacht races in the world and the
fourth largest participation sporting event
in the UK. It will take place between July 2-3,
with many viewpoints around the coast.
Festival of the Sea
T
he Isle of Wight Festival of the
Sea is taking place across the
Island between Saturday June 18
and Sunday July 3. During that
period there will be a wide range of
activities, events and promotions
taking place – all revolving around
the theme of the sea.
These events will include musical
events, art displays, fishing,
cookery displays and food-tasting,
opportunities to charter boats, open
