IW studios opening their doors
T
he last two weekends in July will see over 120 Isle of
Wight artists throw open the doors of their homes,
studios and exhibition spaces to art lovers.
More than 50 of the artists are new to the event this
year, and as well as sculpture, painting, photography and
pottery, there will more unusual techniques on show,
promising one of the most eclectic Open Studios yet.
Art trails will be on offer around Newport, Cowes,
Yarmouth and Freshwater from Friday July 17 - Monday
20, and the following weekend, July 24 - 27, it’s the turn of
artists around Ryde, Bembridge, Sandown, Shanklin and

his June enjoy a night of bingo fun at
the Chequers Inn, Rookley. It’s all in
a good cause, raising money for charity
Isle of Wight Riding for the Disabled.
Buzzing Bingo takes place on Friday,
June 26, with an arrival time of 6pm, and
eyes down at 7pm.
It’s not only bingo though as Friday
night is curry club night! If you prebuy a
combined ticket you can have your table
reserved, a meal deal and bingo games
all for the cut down price of £12, or
£7.50 for children.

reparations are well under way for
St Helens Village Fayre, the popular
family event that takes place on the
village green on the last Sunday in June
every year.
This year’s date for your diary is June
28, and the traditional programme of
events will include everything from the
usual rides, bouncy castle and slide,
shooting gallery and coconut shy for the
children, to lots of live entertainment, dog
shows, a marching band and many more
attractions for all the family to enjoy.
Browsers will love the craft stalls selling
a wide variety of wares, that will line the
main arena, and there will also be an allday car boot sale and vintage car display.
Rock around
the clock!
T
he Leverets – otherwise known as the
Isle of Wight Foot Beagles Supporters
Club - are heading back to the 1950s on
Saturday July 18, with a lively night of
rock’n’roll at Broadfields Farm in Merstone.
The Fifties themed night, featuring the
popular Rattle Shakin’ Daddies, is being
hosted in a barn at the farm, by kind
permission of the Smith family.
Music and dancing will go on from
7.30pm until late, and tickets cost £7.50.
