Hyundai i20 Coupe
D
espite its similarity to the i20 fivedoor version, Hyundai’s sleek and
stylish new i20 Coupe is being marketed
almost as a separate model – and, with a
price tag of under £13,000, it’s definitely
aimed at a younger buyer.
There’s a choice of two engines from
launch - an 83bhp 1.2-litre petrol, or
an 89bhp 1.4-litre diesel – with other
versions to come later in the year. Both
offer good fuel economy, and cost no
more than £30 a year in road tax.
The three specs on offer are the SE,
Sport and Sport Nav, all offering plenty

of kit. All cars get LED daytime running
lights, Bluetooth connectivity, 16-inch
alloy wheels and cruise control, whilst for
top-of-the-range Sport Nav there’s also
sat-nav, DAB radio and a reversing camera.
The Coupe gets two less doors than the
standard hatchback, but exactly the same
wheelbase, so while from the front the
two cars may look identical, side-on, the
sloping roofline and blacked-out C-pillar
gives it a sleeker, more stylish look. At the
back there are slimmer tail lights and a
sportier bumper.
It’s easy to see the appeal for younger
drivers: it looks great, and interior quality
is high, with flashes of orange, clutterfree dials that are easy to read, and a
dash-mounted phone cradle.
In terms of equipment, everything but
fixed cost servicing and metallic paint
comes in the price. With the SE, there
are 16-inch alloys, air-con, LED daytime
running lights and even cruise control.
Like all Hyundai models the i20Coupe
comes with a reassuring five-year,
unlimited mileage warranty and is
available to test drive at Wight Motors,
