at Quarr Abbey, and is
responsible for the 200 acres
of gardens, pastureland,
vegetable plot and private
woodland on the estate.
Seeing rewards of hard work
S
ummer has arrived and
for most folk working on
the land this is a busy yet
rewarding time of the year. All
of the hard work in spring of sowing,
nurturing and protecting is finally
coming to fruition and the results can
now be seen.
Quarr Abbey is now becoming
busy with visitors and tourists, many
eager to see what changes the latest
developments have brought. The
improvements in the landscape are
apparent with the new driveway, the
new car park with its field maple
trees and the new orchard having
been levelled and seeded, creating a
wonderfully wide pedestrianised area.
The apples, pears, stone fruits and
cherry trees will be planted in late
autumn or early winter when the
weather will be more favourable. As
