Thank you walkers!
Earl Mountbatten Hospice would like to say a ‘massive
thank you’ to everyone who Walked the Wight on Sunday,
May 11 to raise money for patient care. Thousands of
people, including school children and runners, crossed the
Island on the 24th annual walk to support the Island’s only
Hospice. Many wore costumes, including Grandad Mick
Dixcey, 63, mum Alix Parsons, 35, and her son Rio Parsons,
11, who walked the full 26.5 miles from Bembridge to
the Needles, dressed as mobile phones. “We’re three
generations, so called ourselves ‘3G’!” laughs Alix, a mum
of five from Ryde.
Festival fun with the Hospice!

Appearing at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival will
be the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kings of Leon… and
Earl Mountbatten Hospice! Festival-goers will be
greeted by a team from the Hospice who will be
selling sunflowers to raise money for patient care.
There will also be a special photo-booth for the
Sunflower Selfie campaign; just strike a pose with
a sunflower and make a small donation to the
Hospice. If you’re not going to the Festival, from
June 12-15, you can still join in the fundraising
fun. Share your #sunflowerselfie and make a £3
donation by texting ‘SUNFLOWER’ to 70007.
