EQUESTRIAN Legge family take up Trotters reins The well known Trotters Riding School on Ashey Road, Ryde is now under new management. After 16 years Kate Blackman has handed over the reins, before heading for a life in New Zealand. The new team, headed by Matt and Charlotte Legge, took over in April. Matt said: “Kate built a fantastic environment for children to learn to ride while, most importantly, keeping a focus on having fun. We are keen to maintain this fun atmosphere and have kept on some of her ponies, giving consistency to the existing clients.” Many of the regulars will already know Hollie, who remains with the business, and Cheryl Cundall has taken over the day to day management of the yard. Cheryl has worked with horses for 20 years and worked for Matt’s father, Phil, when she came to the Island in 2007. Prior to this she gained experience in professional yards in the South West, probably the most notable being the racing yard of Paul Nicholls, where she looked after well known horses including Kauto Star and See More Business. As an addition to the business, Trotters will now be able to offer riding to adults, giving the mums and dads the chance to come along too. To book a ride at Trotters, call 07773 976418.
