Ploughing in funds
for Hospice
The Memorial Ploughing Match
dinner was held at Shanklin
Conservative Club. The dinner came
shortly after another highly succesful
ploughing match, featuring tractors
and heavy horses. Around 76 people
attended the dinner, with the meal
being followed by a re-presentation
of the trophies and a cheque
presentation to the Earl Mountbatten
Hospice.
Before the day of the match £750
had been raised from ploughmen’s
entry fees, and by the day of the
match enough money had been raised
from sponsorship and advertising in
the programme to cover the costs of
the match.
It meant that all the money taken
on the field on the day was donated
