ANTIQUES HRD: Spreading the word After a very busy Fine Art Auction, Hose Rhodes Dickson continues to develop an international client base. Customers continually comment on the integrity and professionalism of the thriving saleroom. This worldwide clientele of collectors continually return to the online catalogue of Hose Rhodes Dickson Auction Rooms to browse the interesting and informative lot descriptions. Potential vendors of jewellery, silver, militaria and other fine art will find an almost insatiable appetite for the items entered into their international fine art auction. O ne of the recent success stories was a faience (French for pottery) model of a hare by the renowned studio of Emile Galle. Although this French firm is known for its stylish glassware, a small quantity of ceramic models were produced, but a hare is extremely rare. The hammer fell at £1,300 to a delighted buyer in Jersey who will, no doubt, return to buy more Galle pieces. A successful auction results in many new vendors coming forward with similar items for appraisal at the valuation mornings. To the surprise of the auctioneers two Galle faience cats appeared on their doorstep! The felines had a very good provenance, having graced one of the top residences. They will be appearing in the next fine art auction on Thursday June 20. If you have items you wish to enter, please contact Rex Gully on 01983 402222.
