ANTIQUES
BBC experts compete
at Island Auctions
James Braxton
The television cameras returned
to the Island Auction Rooms in
Shanklin recently for a round of
the popular BBC2 series ‘Antiques
Road Trip’.
Experts Charles Hanson and
James Braxton had been out
and about at car boots sales and
antique fairs buying items, which
then went under the hammer,
with all profits going to charity.
Island Auction Rooms director
Warren Riches said: “They came

up with some very interesting
lots, including a French
bookbinders’ vice and some
Roman coins, which both made
a good profit. The room was
packed and the bidders were out
in force.”
The show will go out on BBC2
in September. The Auction
Rooms have also played host over
the years to ‘Flog It’, ‘Dickinson’s
Real Deal’ and ‘Cash in the Attic’.
