Island Life's Laura
Boynton reports on
her visit to Utopia Spa
at Melville Hall Hotel,
Sandown
Laura said: “I had heard so much about the
benefits of reflexology, so I was very intrigued
to see how I would feel after the 55-minute
session in the latest of my treatments at Utopia
Spa.
The soothing foot massage made me feel so
relaxed I could have fallen asleep! I was left
feeling revived and re-energised. The treatment
costs £50, and I would really recommend this
to anyone!
The therapist explained to me how it works
and at what points of the foot are linked with
certain organs throughout the body. Reflexology
has such an interesting and complex
background.”

How the foot
treatment works
Working on the feet this
treatment can often accurately
pinpoint areas of imbalance
in the body. It is also a good
preventative treatment, as
some conditions can be
highlighted by working on the
feet before symptoms appear
in the body.
There are 7,200 nerve
endings in each foot.
Stimulating these improves
blood circulation and
lymphatic flow to the body
which in turn will start off
the healing process. In some
cases this can be very quick,
although it depends how
long the condition has been
present.
Good results have been
achieved in cases of infertility,
digestive problems, MS and
ME. It can be used safely
from the fourth month of
pregnancy up until the end to
help ensure a problem free
labour and birth.
