Auction of
promises
raises
much
needed
funds
High expectations were hoped for
a charity auction in aid of Pony
Driving for the Disabled. Held at
Jo Dunn,Vannessa Burden,Colin Leal
the Chequers Inn on the 16th April
everyone who attended made those
expectations happen!
Fiona Paxton auction organiser
had first thought of an Auction of
Promises about a year ago, since then
her list of promises grew. Over 80
people attended to bid for promises
such as a days sailing at UKSA, a
champagne lunch at the Hambrough,
passes to Shanklin Chine and a horse
carriage drive including lunch in the
New Forest. With 54 lots up for grabs
Tim Smith of Island Auction Rooms
had donated his time to the evening
Tim Smith a.k.a. Frank Spencer
and for the first half conducted
the bidding as his alter ego – Frank
Spencer!
The evening managed to raise £2300
for Pony Driving for the Disabled,
backed up by a tombola with over a
hundred prizes and a buffet provided
by the Chequers.
Fiona has decided the money raised
will be spent specifically on the
disabled members, including a trip to
the New Forest with the horses and
carriages as well as much needed
special equipment for the group.
