LOCAL BUSINESS
Flooring your problems with
Carpets Direct
Carpets Direct is a local Island family
owned business that has been trading for
over ten years in Ryde. “Our aim is to
offer exceptional service coupled with
outstanding prices,” said owner Martin Dyer
who has been working in carpets for over 27
years.
Formerly further up the road, the business
needed a bigger showroom and moved to
the present location at 141 High Street
two years ago. Since relocating blinds
and curtains have been added to the range
of carpets and vinyl floorings and Dean
Brookes has joined the team as this is his
specialist area. Both blinds and curtains can
be made to measure.
The ground floor of the cream interior
has a surprisingly large floor area that
extends back a long way – through the
carpet showroom area and on into the vinyl
showroom beyond. Carpets range from the
budget end to top quality Axminsters. A
range of laminate floorings in any wood

finish you can imagine are also on offer
along with the wide range of vinyl floor
coverings.
Up a few stairs to the left of the showroom
is a mezzanine room that houses the
curtains and blinds. From here stairs ascend
further to the rug showroom above which
is on two levels. Possibly the largest rug
showroom on the Island, the rugs range
from the traditional Chinese to the bolder
more vibrant designs and rugs in relief
patterns – you may find rugs from high
street chains at a fraction of their initial
retail price.
Measuring and estimates are free with
no obligation to buy and can be done
out of hours if required. Carpets Direct
have a team of employed fitters who can
move furniture and can dispose of your
old carpets. Free underlay offers apply to
selected carpets along with free fitting on
other selected styles.
