Alarmed but not

“It's just good personal service
and high quality products,” says
Mark Lee of Lifeline Alarms. He
is explaining how, as it nears its
20th anniversary, and in the face
of mainland competition, his
company continues to grow.
He makes it sound simple, but
creating the trust that makes
clients come back is not easy.
To Mark, his brother Nathan and
his daughters, it is all about the
personal touch.
“When you call us, you speak
to a named person who you
can speak to every time, and
who will get to know you,”
says Mark. He tells of one
client going on holiday who,
at the airport, remembered the
coffee pot was still on the hob.
Lifeline held the key, were able
to go in, turn off the hob and,
importantly, re-set the alarm.
They have the technology to
re-set alarms remotely, for
clients who’ve forgotten while
rushing for the Monday morning
ferry. “That sort of backup gives
you a nice warm feeling,” he
says.
It isn’t just warm feelings but
good solid reasons that persuade
a business to pick Lifeline
above nationally famous
security firms. “We’re the only
Island company to have NSI
(National Security Inspectorate)
accreditation. In 99.9% of
spot-inspections we’ve been
given an A Grade,” says Nathan,
Lifeline’s Technical Director.
Staff are all positively screened
to British Standard BS7858, and
highly sensitive data is stored in
a giant strong room. “We invite
clients to come and see how
their data is stored, to reassure
them,” says Mark.
Listening to both commercial
and domestic clients, Mark and
Nathan have introduced the final
