few weeks from now the Island
will wake up to an exciting new
newspaper, The Isle of Wight
Gazette. It will be a refreshing and
positive look at our Island, its people,
organisations and activities.
It will be a modern, colourful, weekly
tabloid newspaper and it will be a FREE
NEWSPAPER.
The individuals behind it have
the experience, skills, contacts and
enthusiasm to make it a success and a
welcome addition to the Island-based
media.
They are Martin Potter, the publisher/
editor of this popular lifestyle magazine,
Island Life, and William Smith a
prominent member of the Island business
community and a former publisher.
Together they have employed the
services of Brian Dennis the ex-editor of
the County Press for ten years.
Martin, who has been thinking about
the Gazette for six years, explained why
he thought the time was right to publish.
“Speaking to readers and advertisers
of Island Life, I was told they wanted
