Sale of a
lifetime
Cavendish Morton’s
retrospective exhibition “A
life in Art” held at Castle
House in St Helens was a rare
opportunity to see
the sheer diversity of
styles and techniques
of a lifetime’s work.
The veteran artist
was in fine form on
the opening day,
entertaining visitors
with the stories
behind his paintings:
12
a picture entitled 'King George
V Jubilee Celebrations 1935,
Selfridges', caused him to
recall the names of the two
young ladies he was with while
taking part in the celebrations.
Morton has explored abstract
and naturalistic styles in his
lifetime of painting. There was
a steady stream of visitors over
the week in March, and 85
paintings were sold.
