Music man to make your day... “Music is the soundtrack of your life,” says Tony Martin. “So if you’re having a party or special celebration it’s great to have that soundtrack playing.” Tony has been playing tunes on the Island for nearly 30 years. When customers book the Tony Martin Music Show they are not just getting a DJ and disco but a totally bespoke entertainment package ranging from a basic show to a top end sound, light, laser and audio visual experience. With this flexibility Tony regularly performs at many functions including weddings, Balls, parties and corporate events. Whatever the scale of the celebration, the attention to detail is astonishing. “If you had a party at home, you’d choose the music. My job as the DJ is to facilitate that same party on your behalf.” Through a questionnaire he discovers clients’ preferred styles of music. He can even offer themed parties with videos from the era chosen. He is often recommended to clients by other service providers. Marquee companies, Island Marquees and Coast & Country regularly work with him and know his requirements exactly, so clients don’t have the added headache of liaising between them. But it is the quality of his sound that marks Tony out above the rest. “I have a hi-fi quality sound system, which has power without being too noisy. No-one usually asks me to turn my music up or down, so I think I’ve got it about right.” When working with a live band, he can offer complementary lighting for them, as well as providing the in-fill between their sets. But for Tony the ultimate gauge is the dance floor. “If it’s full, the people are having a good time and I am doing my job.” The Tony Martin Music Show. www.tmmusicshow.co.uk 01983 403779 0797 9205 489 www.wightfrog.com/islandlife LOCAL BUSINESS Lacey’s moves through the decades A family run Island removals and storage firm still going in the third generation since 1924, Lacey’s was started by Craig Lacey’s grandfather. It is still very much a family firm. Lacey’s is believed to be the longest established family-run removal firm on the Island. In the early days of the company, the removal vans had to get to and from the mainland on barges that landed on Ryde Sands. One of the secrets of this success is undoubtedly the high quality of service which Laceys’s fully trained, full time staff have given their customers over the past eight decades. Craig heads a team of eight staff, all of whom have been with the company for quite some time. Lacey’s has a fleet of six lorries ranging in sizes up to 12 meters, which are instantly recognisable because of their highly traditional livery. They are all high quality modern vehicles which are regularly maintained to ensure they are totally reliable and ready for any job. Storage is also a well-established aspect of life Lacey’s, with a purpose built warehouse for containerised storage which has CCTV and is fully equipped with monitored alarm systems, so customers can rest assured their belongings are safe. Lacey’s endeavours to ensure that for their customers the experience of house moving is as easy and stress free as possible, whether they are just moving down the road,or relocating to the other side of the world.
