High Sheriff David Langford
makes his declaration
The new High Sheriff for the
Island, Lieutenant Colonel David
Langford, made his Declaration
on the 2nd of April to the Lord
Lieutenant in the Crown Court.
The event was witnessed by past
High Sheriffs, many representatives
of the different branches of the legal
services, and friends and members
of his family.
This ancient ceremony requires
the new High Sheriff to pledge his
loyalty to the Queen and to swear
to uphold her rights. He also agrees
to carry out a long list of duties on
behalf of the Crown as required.
Afterwards there was a Reception
for the 80 guests at the Quay Arts
Centre. This was followed by a
Lunch at the Royal Solent Yacht
Club in Yarmouth.”
