Dunsbury “A taste of lamb”
Susannah Seely owner of
Dunsbury Farm thought that
it would be a good idea to hold
a lamb tasting day for selected
traders & hoteliers from across
the island. Joining Susannah on
the day were Keith Hamilton,
the butcher and Steve Fruin the
shepherd.
Susannah explained, “As there is
no abattoir on the island, everyone
has to send their animals to the
mainland. The difference is that
Dunsbury sends the animals to be
slaughtered and then gets them
shipped back onto the farm so
we can control how our lamb is
prepared.
“We hang them for 10 days,
something that is not guaranteed on
the mainland. Dunsbury also hand
wraps the lamb on the premises to
ensure our customers get the best
taste possible, instead of vacuum
packing the produce.
“Most of our customers are based
on the Isle of Wight, where we have
