of the road
Godshill took a step back in time when its Old Smithy car park
was taken over by dozens of fabulous old commercial vehicles
dating back to the 1920’s. The impromptu rally attracted
drivers and owners from the mainland as well as the IW.
Many of the vehicles on show had been lovingly restored
by their owners, at great time and cost. Our favourite was the
old Commer coach, for its sheer colourful impact. However,
its owner Mr John Hunt from the IW revealed that the
old girl can be pretty hard work to drive, not to mention
very noisy with that old Commer two stroke engine. You
certainly wouldn’t want to travel to Scotland in her...
