MOTORING VW have Outfoxed the competition ESPLANADE . MEDINA AVENUE . NEWPORT TELEPHONE . 01983 523232 The grass roots of Volkswagon lie in ‘Cars for the masses’ with the true peoples’ car being the VW Beetle. Production kick started after the war with the aid of a group of British army officers. The Beetle delivered on its promise and with the arrival of the new VW Fox, the company has re-established this ethos. The little Fox is bright and cheerful and not so little, although shorter than the Polo, it is larger than the car it is replacing – the Lupo. In fact, Volkswagon describes the car as maximum car for minimum money, and it is precisely that outlook which reaffirms a harp-back to basics. With an opening price point of £6590 for the 1.2ltr, don’t get confused with the word ‘basic’, only back to basics as a people car provider but not basic in equipment. As standard, all models come complete with twin airbags and abs. The interior specification includes power steering, central locking and a CD player. There are plenty of optional extras to choose from, including three engine sizes, consisting of a 1.4ltr (75bhp) and a 1.4 diesel. All in the form of a 3 door hatchback, complete 76 with front and grill in current and fashionable Volkswagon livery. Driving the Fox is a complete experience – it is a city car with an option for urban, just as desirable for a small family and those needing a reliable second car. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, knowing it was very affordable. Volkswagon finding their roots have completed their range by reinstating the corner stone and rivals could find themselves ‘OutFoxed’. Island Life - www.islandlifemagazine.net
