Saving water in
the garden.
Average UK outdoor water use,
which includes garden watering
and car washing, only accounts
for about six per cent of annual
domestic water consumption.
However, on hot summer evenings,
when supplies are most stressed, 50
per cent or more of the water supply
may be used for garden watering.
With the recent announcement that
Folkestone and Dover Water can
now force all of its householders to
install water meters, and the annual
threat of hosepipe bans, it’s worth
finding out how we can reduce
the amount of water we use in the
garden.
