Celebrating
Burns Night
Anthony Churchill’s eighth annual
Burn’s Supper was held at Ventnor
Winter Gardens with 60 guests.
Welcomed by John Brodie playing Scotland the
Brave on the bagpipes, he later led the parade of the
haggis around the room whilst everyone clapped,
before it was ceremonially stabbed by orator Ted
Chance.
The Immortal Memory was given by Jamie
Macaulay, Ventnor’s mayor Jason Mack gave the
Toast to the Lassies and Sandra Gonzalez gave the
Reply from the Lassies.
Hugh Verey sang his own composition to My Love
is Like a Red Red Rose, with synthesisers, and the
evening culminated with Auld Lang Syne.
