notebook IW Hedge-laying competition The Isle of Wight Hedgerow Group is back at New Barn Farm to finish what they started - a lovely hedge and a great view as the Annual Isle of Wight Hedge-laying Competition returns. This year the the annual Isle of Wight Hedge- laying Competition is taking place on Saturday 25th February from 10am - 4pm. This year’s site is the same as 2012 at New Barn Farm, Sunhill, Calbourne, Isle of Wight PO30 4JA, off the main Newport-Calbourne road. (Grid ref SZ43418687). Memorial Ploughing Match The annual Memorial Ploughing Match is taking place this year on Sunday April 2nd at New Wolverton farm, Shorwell, PO38 2JY with the kind permission of Professor and Mrs Williams. Watch heavy horses ploughing alongside vintage and conventional tractors. Entry is free and any money collected on the day will be given to charities on the Island, the main beneficiary of which is the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
