The Pavilion:

Open for business

ast year Brian Gardener,the
entrepreneur who built Newclose
County Cricket Ground, sadly
passed away. Since then, under the
guidance of his son Martin, there’s
been lots of positive changes aimed at
achieving Brian’s vision to make cricket
available to everyone. Alison Baxter, has
been appointed Events and Hospitality
Manager at The Brian Gardener Pavilion
which means that all revenue goes back
to the cricket ground. Also a generous
donation of £260,000 by Martin and his
sister Julie will ensure a brighter future
for cricket on the island.
“My sister and I wanted to give
Newclose County Cricket Ground the
best possible start to the year and we

hope that this will provide a lasting
legacy. It also is a tribute to my father
to show the love and passion he felt for
making cricket accessible to all on the
Island.” says Martin.
Creating a sustainable business at
The Pavilion will be a priority for new
manager Alison who is really looking
forward to the challenge. The Pavilion is
a convenient event location with ample
parking making it perfect for business
conferences and meetings. There’s WiFi
throughout and room for 100 delegates
conference style. Several smaller rooms
are perfect for breaking out into smaller
groups. Hire fees start from £200 for a
half day to £400 for a full day.
For couples looking for a picturesque

venue, The Pavilion seats up to 70 people,
more for a buffet and you can enjoy
gorgeous countryside views. There are
many packages to suit all budgets.
If you are looking for a dignified setting
for a funeral wake or life celebration,
then The Pavilion can provide a peaceful
venue. All food and drinks can be
arranged with fi nger buffets starting
from £8.95 per person. There is also a
fully licensed bar.
The Pavilion is open Thursday-Saturday
10am - 4pm for teas, coffees, cream
teas and light bites. The menu includes
homemade cakes, jacket potatoes, soup,
sandwiches and home-baked dish of the
