FASHION, HEALTH & BEAUTY Specsavers S pledges support to charity pecsavers, located at 107 High Street, Newport, has announced that Isle Drive Safe will be its chosen charity again for 2016 after raising more than £2.5k for the charity last year. The charity, founded by Neal Staley in 2013, works closely with the emergency services and the local council to improve road safety on the Isle of Wight. Neal Staley and his wife Penny were both in their car with their ten-year-old daughter Evey, a back seat passenger, when they were hit by a speeding car as they manoeuvred out of their driveway at the start of a trip to the shops in August 2012. Not only did they suffer the tragic loss of their daughter, but 88 www.visitilife.com both Neal and his wife were also severely hurt. The driver of the car involved had been drinking and smoking cannabis. This year Isle Drive Safe is launching a pledge asking residents to drive safely and considerately in memory of Evey and the many others killed on the Island’s roads. To lend support Specsavers Newport is offering every person who comes into the store to sign the pledge before Thursday 31 March, the opportunity to be entered into a draw to win a designer pair of glasses worth £125 and a free eye examination. Catherine Kidd, ophthalmic director of Specsavers in Newport, says: “We are delighted to be supporting Isle Drive Safe for a second consecutive year and encourage locals to sign the pledge.
