R
ichard Sainsbury attends the
Mottistone Clinic at St Mary’s
Hospital to see anyone with
a breast problem. He has a wide
experience of breast conditions,
both benign and malignant and is
also trained in breast augmentation
(breast enlargement) and reduction
surgery. He keeps up to date by
contributing to National and
International meetings and has
ongoing research interests at
University College, London.
Richard initially trained in the North
East of England where he gained his
medical degree before undergoing
surgical training. His research
doctorate (MD) described a new
class of receptors on breast cancer
cells and was awarded a distinction.
He has published over 170 papers
as well as 30 book chapters and has
made videos on surgical techniques.
He has had a clinic in Harley Street
since 2000 and also operates at
the Spire Southampton and the
Mottistone Suite.
Many patients have not needed
to use the private facilities on the
Island as the breast clinic has been
efficient in seeing, diagnosing and
treating patients in a timely manner.
However, for some the extra time
that a private consultation affords
can be reassuring.
Appointments can be made via the
Mottistone Office by calling 01983
526699.
Wight walking
T
he first stage of the annual Isle of Wight Walking Festival
takes place from May 2 to 17, offering in excess of 250 walks.
The Walking Festival started in 1999 with just 39 walks, but
now the programme is packed with fantastic walks; some of the
old favourites and some new ones to whet the appetite.
There are a further four days in October for the Autumn Festival.
The walking programme is suitable for all abilities, from toddlers to
the more mature, from ghost to coast, and hikers to casual walkers.
New for 2015 is the ‘Workplace Walking Challenge’, where
participants will be in teams of five, mapping steps over an eightweek period in an attempt to increase fitness and win walking
boots and a Silver One Card. Full details can be found on the
