Orchestra captivates audience
The annual visit of the Sinfonietta to All Saints
Church, Ryde was another triumph for the
orchestra’s conductor, Island resident Richard
Studt, and for guest soloist, cellist Lionel
Handy. Over 350 listened to the orchestra of
30 at maybe the best acoustic venue on the
Island. The vicar, the Rev Canon Graham
Morris introduced the evening; Lionel Handy
played Robert Schumann's Cello Concerto in A
minor. Prokofiev's Classical Symphony started
the concert and Haydn's London Symphony
rounded it off. Richard Studt was soloist in
Dvorak's Romance for Violin and Orchestra.
