Annual Ploughing Match
The fifth annual Memorial
Ploughing Match will be held
at Atherfield Farm, by kind
permission of Mrs A Henton, on
Sunday, April 7.
The event was originally
organised to remember four
members of the Isle of Wight
Traction Engine Club who sadly
all passed away in 2008. The
money raised from the event is
given to the Earl Mountbatten
Hospice.
Ploughing entries close on
Sunday, March 17. Ploughing
starts at 9.30am and ends
at 3.30pm. The raffle,
announcement of results and
presentation of trophies will be at
approximately 4.00pm. Spectator
entry is free, but any money
collected on the day will go to
the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
Refreshments will be available.
There will be a dinner and
prize presentation on Saturday
April 13 at The Regency Suite,
Shanklin Conservative Club.
Tickets, £18 per person must be
brought in advance and the final
day for buying tickets will be on
Sunday April 7, at the match.

Island heavy horses Jeff and
Bob will be visiting Newport
on Saturday March 23 between
11.0am and 2.0pm and will be in
St. James' Square between noon
and 12.30pm.

Get in step for annual Walking Festival
The 15th anniversary of the Isle of Wight
Walking Festival, sponsored by Exodus Travels,
will take place from May 4 to 19.
There will be a choice more than 300 walks
in the May and Autumn festivals. From Ambles
to Rambles, you can follow in the footsteps
The Poet Laureate Alfred Lord Tennyson, and
Robert Hooke, John Milne, Queen Victoria and
Jimmy Hendrix, with walks for all ages and
