Yeti helps mark milestone
F. H. Winter and Sons of Havenstreet
reach another milestone this year with
the 30th anniversary of their Skoda
franchise on the Island.
During that time Skoda models have
grown in stature and popularity, and it
is fitting that one of their finest ever,
the Skoda Yeti, is currently catching
the eye of many motorists.
The Skoda Yeti provides a
comfortable on-road experience, yet
can tackle the toughest of terrains
thanks to its tough 4x4 ‘crossover’
styling. The Yeti joins the very
successful Octavia 4x4 Estate, Octavia
Scout 4x4 Estate, Superb SE 4x4
Hatch and Estate, and the Superb
Elegance 4x4 Hatch and Estate
- a large stable of internationally
renowned 4x4 vehicles.
I drove the 140 bhp, 2.0 litre diesel
model, but there are also 110bhp and
170bhp diesels on offer, as well as a

good range of petrol alternatives. They
include a two-wheel drive 1.2 litre and
a 1.8 litre 4x4 which comes in manual
or automatic – basically something for
all motoring tastes.
Inside the cabin, which has spacious
head room, the drive position provides
a clear, all round view through large
windows, and there is scope to adjust
the steering wheel and driver’s seat to
suit all shapes and sizes. Passengers
are also well catered for in the
Flexible Varioflex seating, even
though the boot space is not
compromised.
The Yeti E models include
air conditioning, electric front
windows and a CD player,
while S models come with alloy
wheels, front fog lights, and
powered rear windows. The
next step up to the SE sees
climate control, parking sensors

and a six-disc CD changer.
Although circumstances did not
allow me to test the Yeti off-road, it
has already proved its worth elsewhere
and soon after its launch it won the
accolade of ‘Top Gear’ magazine’s
Family Car of the Year.
Prices start at £14,830 for the Yeti
E 1.2 TSi entry level model, and the
