Farm Shop provides quality
In the three years since Tod and Jackie
Carder opened Mottistone Farm Shop
with the help of a SEEDA grant, they
have built a glowing reputation for
quality produce at highly competitive
prices.
They started their venture with the
introduction of all their own meat –
predominantly beef, pork and lamb –
all of which has been born and reared
on the farm and have since expanded
further.
Jackie explained: “We make all our
own sausages on site now, along with
our beefburgers, and have a fantastic
butcher in Andy Corney who has
more than 47 years’ experience in the
butchery trade, his meat presentation
is superb and he does an exceptional
job for us.”
Virtually everything that is sold
in Mottistone Farm Shop is Island
produced, including ice cream, juices,
eggs, oil, vegetables and some seasonal
fruit. Minted lamb and beef and ale
pies are also made on the premises,
and like the rest of the produce have
become extremely popular.
But Jackie is eager to point out: “I
want people to realise that they don’t
have to come to us just for a special
occasion. Although we pride ourselves
on quality, we are also affordable,

and I often check out meat prices
and other outlets to ensure we stay
competitive."
“It means customers can come along
to shop for their every day meats, but
if they want something for a special
occasion then they can come and talk
to us and disscuss their needs and we
will do our best to provide it.”
Customers from all over the Island
travel to the Mottistone Farm Shop
which is open Wednesday to Sunday
from, 11am to 5pm, or they can also
be found at the Farmers’ Market in
Newport each Friday, and in Ryde on
Saturdays.
