Animal magic
through the
eye of a lens
An exhibition of the works of
Island-based photographer Dale Durfee
is taking place at the New Rembrandt
Gallery, 15, Scarrots Lane, Newport until
February 28.
Dale, who hails from the United States,
has travelled the world taking magnificent
photographs of horses, and since moving
to the Island she has turned her attention
to photographing pet dogs.
Larger than life portraits of some of the
dogs she has snapped look down on you
when you enter the gallery, offering a
surprise twist.
Around 80 people attended the opening
of the exhibition during which John
Holsburt, administrator of Dimbola Lodge
gave the opening speech, and a raffle
raised funds for the Dimbola Lodge
Foundation.
Dale explained: “Photographing Islanders’
pets is the new wing of the business. As a
result, around half the photographs in the
show are of our four-legged friends!”
Some of her work is also available to
view at Dimbola Lodge, and she is hoping
to take her exhibition to other Island
venues later this year. Anyone interested
in hosting the exhibition, or wanting their
pets photographed can contact Dale on
01983-754150.
