If you have spent the winter curled up alone at home with
a book, it is time to come out of hibernation. Reading is a
solitary occupation but sharing what you have read can be
rewarding.
For several years the popularity of reading groups has
grown. Once you have read all the books by your favourite
author you will be looking around for something new. A
reading group can open the door to a wide variety of writers
and it also gets you out of the house.
Whether you enjoy Romance, Crime Fiction, Travel, History,
Biography, Fantasy or anything else, you may find yourself
discovering new books you would never have thought of
trying.
Reading Groups are regularly held at the
following locations:
-Lord Louis Library, Orchard St Newport, PO30 1LL. Tel:
527655. A book group meets the third Thursday of the
month.
-Bembridge Library, Church Road, Bembridge PO35 5NA.
Tel: 873 102. The group meets on the 2nd Monday of the
month.

hearing difficulties via audio books on CD or Cassette. Also,
a regular Book Chat where you can discuss your favourite
books. Held the first Tuesday of each month.
Remember in addition to books and music, the libraries also
lend out talking books.
In addition there are many groups island wide, run by
friends where new members are welcome.
-Waterstones Bookshop, High St Newport runs three
Reading Groups covering popular fiction, non-fiction and

-Royal National Institute for the Blind, Millbrooke House,
Carisbrooke Road, Newport, P030 1DD, runs book readings
