Sandell Partnership takes the stress
out of Island building projects
Taking on a new build project,
particularly in an area you may not be
too familiar with, can easily become an
extremely stressful task.
Even refurbishments can test the
patience and the pocket to the limit
if not managed with a degree of calm
and caution.
That is why Chris Sandell decided
to embark on his Sandell Partnership
property development business with
his wife Lynda. Originally from the
Island Chris left in 1984, to complete
his training as a surveyor, working
in London and Sevenoaks before
returning to the Island in 1998.
He and Lynda have been offering
their expertise to clients for the past
12 years, generally through word of
mouth, but subsequently identified
that there was a need to help people,
particularly those moving to the Island
from the mainland, who maybe did not
have the local knowledge and contacts
for a smooth transition.
That is where the Sandell Partnership
comes in with Chris explaining: “We
start from scratch, helping to guide
people which parts of the Island
may suit their lifestyle and needs,
and advising in terms of schools,
transport and commuting. Based on
that we then go out and find a site,
and as a chartered surveyor I know
all the estate agents and have a good
overview of the market.
“We can steer clients
through everything from
site acquisition, planning
application, design of the
building, and construction
– the whole package. If
someone is moving here we
like to make it as smooth
as possible, make sure they
get what they want and are
happy with the quality. But
we also cater for people on
the Island who are maybe undertaking
a refurbishment – we are here to help
everyone in all aspects of building.
“Once we get through the
construction stage, my wife can do
interior design and landscaping and
can oversee all of that – so we can
cover everything from site acquisition
to fixtures and fittings.” Tel: 01983

A touch of Italian style arrives at
The Island Kitchen Company
A touch of Italian style has arrived
in Ventnor with the opening by Gary
Ward of the Island Kitchen Company.
Having worked in the business
for 15 years, as project and branch
manager with a leading kitchen
manufacturer, Gary decided to embark
on his own project, and after a good
deal of research, opted to supply and
fit kitchens from the innovative range
by renowned Italian manufacturers,
Scavolini.
The Scavolini company has been
producing kitchens for over 40
