Martin's

off in these
tough times!
Martin Bullock sums up his formula for
success in just three words: Attention
to detail!
Martin has been behind some of
the most successful public house
transformations on the Island. For
nearly 20 years he has taken on
ventures and while leaving nothing to
chance has enhanced his reputation by
turning them into extremely popular
food-led outlets.

Born in Exeter, Martin moved to
the Island when he was seven after
his father, who was in the Prison
Service, was relocated here after spells
in Birmingham, Bedford, Wakefield
and Exeter. He lived in Wootton and
attended Wootton Primary, Osborne
Middle and Medina High Schools.
When he was still at school he did
part-time work on a Saturday in a
Newport shoe shop, and his sales skills
were soon recognised. He was offered a
position as trainee manager, and at just
17, following a spell in the Ryde shop,
became manager of a new outlet in
Bognor Regis, becoming the company’s
youngest ever manager.
Martin returned to the Island
following the death of his father, and
worked in screen printing and litho
printing sales. A sortie into designer
print proved extremely competitive, so
