Terence
Willey raises
over £5,000 for
the hospice.
14th December marked
the celebration of the 30th
Anniversary of the special
annual Christmas Lunch
held at The Royal London
Yacht Club, Cowes under the
excellent catering provided by
"All About Catering". Some
one hundred people attended
and enjoyed a seven hour
extravaganza with unlimited
wine throughout the day with
fun and entertainment and
contributions from Matt Black
(Comedian from the Comedy
Store), Vectic Brass, Ryde
School Choir, Georgina Taylor
and Mark Bottierell (singer
and saxophone) and Joanna
Madin (violin). In addition
the usual fun and games
took place raising £3,000.00
on the day with a further
£2,000.00 promised from the
proceeds of an auction for
the sole benefit of the Earl
Mountbatten Hospice.
The idea of a lunch was
formed 30 years ago when
Terry discovered that
no particular business
or professional special
lunches were arranged on
the Island to celebrate the
festive season and from
a gathering of a handful
of professional people
it has today developed
to an average annual
gathering of around 100
and marks the start of
the Christmas period and
has benefited deserving
charities over the years.
