sponsored by A Barrel of laughs! If you have never been to the Wight Rock Bar in Lind Street, Ryde before, then honestly you really should go. It’s a fantastic little venue, a cellar bar with a difference and probably nothing like you might imagine. It’s modern, non-smoking, trendy and for us girlies it has the most immaculate loos. Now I know it’s pretty hard to motivate yourself to go out on a wet and windy evening on the island especially if you don’t really have to but we tried their brand new Comedy Cavern on a particularly cold and rainy January night and I have to say I am absolutely delighted that we made the effort. Wight Rock Bar is a perfect setting for the Comedy Cavern and for those of us ‘overners’, it’s like being transported back to a cool bar in any city on the mainland. Guests were a really good mix of all ages and the atmosphere was chilled and sophisticated. The evening kicked off with local singer and guitarist, Damien Paul who I have to say was really, really good and will be a regular at the Cavern. He was followed by Mitch Benn, a larger than life musical comedian and star of Radio 4’s The Now Show. He was superb. If you like Bill Bailey, then this chap would be for you.
