Beauty that’s more
than skin-deep
It may be best known for its glamorous tanning,
eyelash extensions and nail treatments, but at the
popular Shanklin salon Beau Belles, beauty goes
deeper than just those surface treatments.
In fact, clients are just as likely to
book appointments for massage
and reflexology, Hopi ear candling
or hot stones sessions.
Salon owner Rachael Williams
says she’s keen to offer these
alternative treatments that
can offer health and relaxation
benefits, as well as the more
typical salon menu of luxury
pampering experiences.
Her holistic therapies specialist
is Kristie Urry, who says: “People
are definitely turning more to
alternatives when it comes to
dealing with their everyday stress
or repetitive strain problems.
“Lots of clients are realising that
these therapies can have real
health benefits and they see them
as a need rather than a luxury”.
Kristie says that among the most
popular choices are remedial and
therapeutic massage to deal with
tension and lymphatic drainage to
release toxins, along with various
specialist options such as Indian
head massage and Thai foot
massage.
She says: “Lymphatic drainage
can work fantastically well in
conjunction with diet and exercise
to give the body a cleanse”.
Beau Belles is a busy salon with
eight staff and four treatment
areas, and offers appointments six
days a week.
