Charity Gala & Auction
70 guests enjoyed a sumptuous fundraising dinner hosted by Lord Brabazon at the Royal Yacht Squadron in October , raising £ 15,000 to support the charitable activities of St Catherine ’ s and Ventnor Rotary .
At its residential special school in Ventnor , St Catherine ’ s works with children and young people from across the UK with severe speech , language and communication needs , whilst Ventnor Rotary supports Island children with social and recreational needs . The evening included an auction of donated lots , led by Nick Bonham , former Chairman of world-renowned auction house Bonhams , and ended with a speech , by Lord Grade of Yarmouth , who entertained guests with colourful stories from the worlds of showbusiness and sailing .
