Making for a leaner business

A successful family-owned butchers has trimmed away some of the fat to make the business leaner and more efficient .
Hamilton ’ s Fine Foods took the decision to close its Wootton shop in November , and has moved its two long-standing staff Gerry and Sarah from there to the Dodnor shop five miles away . As a result , the business at Dodnor has now been expanded with the addition of a marquee for vegetables and other quality produce . According to Kerry Gustar , who runs the business with her father Andy , the move from Wootton is their way of consolidating the business to carry on competing with the almighty supermarkets . They will continue to run their two other shops in Cowes and Newport , and all three outlets will carry on offering a traditional butchery service , supporting local farmers and supplying the best quality meat along with homemade sausages and pies , dry-cured bacon and vegetables . For the Wootton customers , it may mean travelling just a little further - but Hamilton ’ s excellent quality will always make it worth those extra few miles . Find Hamiltons Fine Foods at 67 Pyle St , Newport , at Daish Way , Newport and on the High St , Cowes .
