SOCIAL SCENE
MS supper success
T
he Island Branch of the Multiple
Sclerosis Society held their
bi-annual fundraising Dinner on
Saturday November 14. Held once
again at the Eversley Hotel Ventnor,
the evening was a huge success
with the auction raising in excess
of £8,300. Tim Smith of Island
Auction Rooms, Shanklin, is a great
supporter of the IOW MS Society and
as well as organising the event, he
also performed as a very successful
auctioneer.
The evening offered over 120
interesting donated lots including:
Premiership football tickets and
waterproof camera thanks to
RICHO, 14ct gold earrings, GlassArt
picture, Mini digger and driver,
half a local lamb, outside house
clean, Taxi return to airport, varied
Island business vouchers for meals,
a trip around The Needles and
much more. The auction raised
over £5,500, a high quality raffle
raised £830 and donations are due
from employers schemes of two
committee members, alongside
further donations making this event
the most successful fundraising
event held yet.
Funds are used for IOW MS
sufferers by way of providing grants
for living aids, a specific alternative
therapy subsidised voucher scheme
and monthly socials, all of which
help to support and provide comfort
to many with the condition.
The committee expressed their
thanks to Tim Smith and CROSS
Printmedia for their sponsorship and
the many committee members for
all their efforts. This would not have
been possible if it wasn’t for the most
generous donations and bidding
from so many individuals.
