SOCIAL SCENE
Dancing
through the
decades
I
t’s been rocking the Island
since it first burst onto the
scene in 2009, but this year’s
DECADeANCE party at the Haven
Events Centre was roundly voted
the best yet.
In honour of its seventh year, the
party took on a funky 007 theme,
with dancers aged from 18 to
80-plus turning out in a variety of
James Bond-inspired outfits.
As well as dancing the night
away to music from down the
decades, partygoers also had fun
in the casino, photo booth and
cocktail bar.
The DECADeANCE phenomenon,
which was originally planned by
Island DJ Tony Martin as a one-off
party to celebrate his 30 years in
the business, has seen the event
grow in popularity year on year.
The 700 tickets were sold out two
months in advance of the event
this year – which is good news
not just for the event, but for the
charity it supports.
In fact, the amount raised for the
Mountbatten Hospice charity is
expected to have leapt from the
2014 total of £6,500 to something
in the order of £9,000 this year.
